ABSTRACT

Purpose: This research aimed to map the implementation of the assessment of Islamic Religious Education (commonly known as PAI) learning outcomes in the psychomotor domain during the COVID-19 period in Indonesia. Method: This is a qualitative research conducted through case studies with three data collection methods: observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings: The results of the study showed that the implementation of Islamic Religious Education learning during the COVID-19 period can be seen in three phases: in the first phase, the implementation and assessment of learning related to the psychomotor domain cannot be accommodated by Indonesian schools;the second phase was indicated by the implementation and assessment of online learning fully;and the third phase focused on the online-offline combination mode when online platforms such as Zoom, and WhatsApp were used and assessment of learning outcomes was dominated by performance tests and portfolios through video, audio, and other student products;while the off-line assessment mode focused on hands-on practice. Implications for Research and Practice: despite its limitations, this research provides lessons and insights especially for policymakers to anticipate similar events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, with learning programs and assessments that are more effective, adaptive, and easy to implement by teachers, especially in the psychomotor domain. Planned and measurable policies will reduce negative impacts on students, such as learning loss, which is happening at this time. © 2022 Ani Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 outbreak has affected the world of education, including science learning. This paper aims to reveal one of the practices of learning science from home using a contextual approach to the topic of cultivating Ficus carica plants. The research method uses field studies, project analysis, and interviews. The results showed that: (1) Through project-based learning, students can reveal a lot of scientific information related to the topics discussed (2) Selection of issues that are close to the context of everyday life makes it easier for students to learn (3) Learning science from home can support to achieve the learning outcomes of lectures. This research concludes the importance of redesigning a more adaptive and flexible science learning curriculum during a pandemic outbreak.

ABSTRACT

Adaptation of new habits in many aspects of life, including education, is required amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Many countries, including Indonesia, suddenly implement online learning as a realization of social distancing policies. This sudden change in the learning system has become a challenge for teachers. They must be able to integrate technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge to conduct online learning well. Therefore, this study investigates the readiness of biology teachers to face online learning based on their Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). The purposive survey method was used by distributing questionnaires and conducting online interviews. The questionnaire consists of 30 statements about the TPACK readiness of biology teachers and ten questions about the online learning process during the COVID-19 outbreak. A total of 121 biology teachers in West Java, Indonesia, participated in this study. The findings indicate that biology teachers have sufficient TPACK skills in implementing online learning. However, their technological capabilities still need to be improved. The flexibility of place and time, availability of learning resources, and increased independence of teachers and students in using technology are the advantages of online biology learning during the COVID-19 outbreak. Meanwhile, the problems faced by teachers include technical connectivity and student honesty in tak-ing exams in the implementation of online learning. The uncertainty of when the pandemic will end makes this study important to carry out for evaluation and potential improvement of online biology learning systems. © 2021 Science Education Study Program FMIPA UNNES Semarang.
